Thanks to the emergence of Heisman Trophy finalist Christian McCaffrey, running back Barry Sanders Jr. watched his role with the Stanford Cardinal decrease throughout the season.
Now, with graduation coming up this summer, Sanders is set to transfer.
Sanders, who recorded 315 rushing yards and four touchdowns during the 2015 college football season, will be eligible to play immediately and one university he is considering is his father’s alma mater, Oklahoma State.
During a recent interview withThe Oklahoman, Sanders was asked about potentially finishing his career at his father’s old school and he seemed very open about the possibility.
“That’s definitely an option,” Sanders said. “I have not been in contact with those guys yet, but I would like to see what they have to offer. Hopefully we can find some common ground.”
Barry Sanders Jr. may not make the same noise with the Cowboys that his father, who won a Heisman Trophy, was able to, but he would provide solid depth and experience in the backfield for a team who is once again hoping to contend as one of the top programs in the nation.
