LT Jerald Hawkins becomes first LSU junior to declare for 2016 NFL Draft

The LSU Tigers have always been known for putting some talented offensive linemen into the NFL. Last year, La’el Collins was one of the top-ranked tackles before falling to free agency due to an off-field incident he was later cleared of.

Collins has now become one of the most prominent players on the offensive line for the Dallas Cowboys. The Tigers will be losing another great tackle to the NFL as junior left tackle Jerald Hawkins declared for the Draft Wednesday evening.

With his declaration, Hawkins became the first junior to declare for the 2016 NFL Draft from LSU. This is the second offensive lineman the Tigers will have to replace in 2016 as Vadal Alexander will be graduating and moving on to the NFL.

Toby Weathersby is one of the five linemen signed in 2015 and he became the Tigers’ number six guy along the line this season. He along with Chidi Okeke and George Brown should do a fine job replacing Hawkins and Alexander.
