Cincinnati freshman quarterback Luke Wright is transferring across the river to the University of Kentucky, according to Kentucky Sports Radio.
Originally from Atlanta, Wright appeared in just two games for the Bearcats and completed 1 of 3 pass attempts for 16 yards as the third stringer behind Gunner Kiel and Hayden Moore.
His arrival in Lexington will be a welcome one, as Patrick Towles has transferred to Boston College and Reese Phillips has also decided to transfer and Drew Barker needs a backup. Wright will need to sit out a year, per NCAA transfer rules, but should have an easy adjustment in coach Mark Stoops’ system thanks to former Cincinnati offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw also being in Lexington. Once he is eligible to play, he will have two years of eligibility remaining.
