Auburn OL coach interviewing for position at Cincinnati

Auburn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes is interviewing today for the same position at Cincinnati, according to Brandon Marcello of AL.com. Per Marcello, Grimes’ interview is with Bearcats head coach Tommy Tuberville.

Grimes has been a member of Auburn coach Gus Malzahn’s staff since 2012, when Malzahn was at Arkansas State, and his son, Nick, is currently a graduate assistant at Cincinnati. Grimes’ offensive lines have also developed a reputation as incredibly strong, as Auburn’s rushing attack has become one of the most powerful in the game, even ranking top in the nation in 2013.

Grimes signed an extension back in March that could keep him in Auburn through 2017, but all reports say that he will leave for Cincinnati if he is offered a position there. If that is the case, whoever succeeds him at Auburn will have some big shoes to fill.
