Jerry Jones pushing Chargers/Rams merger in LA

According to the NFL, the Chargers, Rams and Raiders aren’t doing enough to stay put in their respective cities. As result, the league’s 32 owners have been called upon to reconcile the situation.

Jerry Jones has pitched a Chargers/Rams merger in Inglewood, California. It gives Chargers owner ,Dean Spanos, his shot out of San Diego and Rams owner Stan Kroenke his own stadium.

The Chargers are much more interested in Carson, California for obvious reasons. Rams owner Kroenke–a corporate developer–bought numerous parcels of commercial property close to Inglewood. If the Chargers move into the heart of LA, they become “step children” so to speak–an added fixture further pushing his investments upward in value.

Carson is a nice in-between for the teams. The Chargers have been the more successful team from 2000 on, and feel it necessary to be treated as equals.

The difficulty with any proposal, is 24–75%–of league owners must vote in favor of it. Not to mention, Raiders Owner Mark Davis would have to approve it, while getting funding to stay put in Oakland.
