Arizona leading scorer Allonzo Trier has a broken right hand and will be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks, according to an announcement by the university.
Trier, a five-star freshman from Seattle, suffered the injury in Arizona’s quadruple-overtime loss to USC over the weekend, a game in which he scored 25 points to go with six rebounds and two assists. This season, he is averaging 14.8 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 35 percent from long range.
Wildcats coach Sean Miller offered more in a statement.
“He was playing the best basketball of his young career at Arizona,” Miller said. “Allonzo has worked tirelessly every day since he arrived on our campus. Hopefully he will be able to rejoin us at some point this season and continue his improvement and development as an outstanding player.”
Needless to say, Arizona is going to have a big hill to climb with Trier now out for a majority of Pac-12 play.
