Auburn brings in Herb Hand to coach offensive line

Wasting no time after previous offensive line coach J.B. Grimes left for Cincinnati, Auburn found his replacement in Herb Hand. Hand is coming from Penn State, where he held the same position. Dan Wolken of USA Today reports that Auburn and Hand are heading toward a deal.

Hand will be reuniting with Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn, the two worked together for two years at Tulsa in 2007 and 2008.

Auburn allowed 19.0 sacks last season. Penn State allowed 10 in the first game of the season of 2015 and ended the year giving up a total of 39 sacks.

Hand’s departure from Penn State is the second by an assistant coach in the last few days. Penn State lost defensive coordinator Bob Shoop to Tennessee over the weekend.
