Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine undergoes ankle surgery

On Monday, Oklahoma Sooners running back Samaje Perine underwent ankle surgery which will keep him out of action for spring ball.

“Samaje had surgery on his ankle today to fix a ligament he injured in the Orange Bowl,” said Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops in a statement. “Everything went well and we expect a full and complete recovery.”

It was announced last week that Perine would undergo the procedure to clean up ligament damage in his ankle and on Sunday his teammates shared photos of Perine busting out a smile after surgery.

Perine suffered the ankle injury in the second half of the Sooners’ loss to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

On the season, the sophomore rushed for 1,349 yards and 16 touchdowns.
