Michigan RB Derrick Green granted release, will seek grad transfer

Michigan running back Derrick Green has been granted a release from his scholarship and will seek a graduate transfer, according to NBC Sports. Neither Green nor the university has given official confirmation on the release.

“The student-athlete is the one that should be confirming his decision… as we prefer they communicate their desire to transfer/graduate and play another season elsewhere. We do not confirm those decisions as an institution,” a UM spokesperson said to NBC, who sent an email inquiring about Green’s decision

A former four-star recruit from Richmond, Virginia, Green never quite got the ball rolling in Ann Arbor. In three seasons, he rushed for only 898 yards and seven touchdowns. He did not travel with his teammates to the Citrus Bowl for a reason that was only described as an “internal matter.”
