On Tuesday, the Pro Football Writers of America announced the winner of the 2015 NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year award. In what comes as very little of a surprise, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton received the honors.

On the season, Newton threw for 3,837 yards, 35 touchdowns and ten interceptions. Newton added 636 yards and an additional 10 touchdowns with his feet, while leading the Panthers to an NFL best regular season record of 15-1.

Newton was undoubtedly deserving of the awards.

Currently, Carolina is preparing to host the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game this weekend at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 6:40 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 24.
