QB Sheriron Jones returning to Tennessee after quick stint with Colorado

Sheriron Jones must have really not liked something in Boulder, as just two weeks after tranferring to Colorado, he is making his way back to Tennessee.

In a statement Friday afternoon, CU head coach Mike MacIntyre announced that he has granted Jones a release from his scholarship.  MacIntyre’s reasoning is that “[w]e have concluded that it is in his best interests for him to return to Tennessee.”

No reason was specified for Jones’ departure for the Buffaloes, nor was one given when he left Knoxville. Luckily, Jones will not lose a year of eligibility either as an NCAA rule allows transfers to play the following season if they transfer back to their original school within two weeks.

Tennessee has yet to confirm Jones’ return.

Jones was a four-star recruit coming out of high school a year ago. He was rated the No. 10 dual threat quarterback in the country as well.
