Texas Tech’s Norense Odiase out 6 weeks with broken bone in foot

Texas Tech’s front court sustained a major blow this week as it was announced starting big man Norense Odiase has a broken bone in his foot, sidelining him for six weeks.

The 6-foot-9 Odiase broke his fourth metatarsal in a win over TCU this week and he is expected to spend the next three weeks in a cast before being reevaluated. A starter for all 17 Red Raider games this season, Odiase has been a solid interior presence while posting 9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Junior forward Matt Temple or sophomore Zach Smith are expected to be relied on to fill the void left by Odiase.

Tubby Smith’s men are 12-5 so far this season, with their eyes on making a run at the NCAA tournament.
