Former Tide RB Tyren Jones commits to South Carolina

Former Alabama running back Tyren Jones has committed to South Carolina, according to 247 Sports.

Jones, a former four-star recruit from the Atlanta area, was dismissed from Alabama early last year after being arrested for marijuana possession and spent the 2015 season at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. On top of South Carolina, he had offers from Louisville and Auburn.

And the Gamecocks could really use Jones, as last year’s leading rusher in senior Brandon Wilds only had 567 yards and three touchdowns. With new coach Will Muschamp looking to add intensity to the program, and given how his system calls for a strong rushing attack, Jones’ addition could not have been timed better.
