Though Dabo Swinney is best known as the fiery coach of the Clemson Tigers, he has strong ties to Alabama in that he played his college ball for the Crimson Tide and had a fine teammate and friend in fullback Kevin “The Anvil” Turner.
Turner, who now suffers from ALS and uses both a feeding tube and a ventilator, recently received a great gift from his former teammate according to CBS Sports and GridironNow. That gift was a full scholarship for Turner’s son, Nolan, to come play at Clemson. Given how Nolan was planning to try and walk on at either Alabama or Troy, this offer is more than meaningful.
This is simply a great gesture on Swinney’s part. Not only was he perking up a former teammate, but he gave his old friend’s son an opportunity to be part of a team that should contend for a national championship over the next few seasons.
