Jarran Reed praises Jacob Coker’s leadership

One player who is familiar with the location of the 2016 Reese’s Senior Bowl is Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jacob Coker. Fresh off of a national championship, the Mobile, Alabama native is returning home to help lead the South squad against the North in Saturday’s game.

Coker is on a talent-filled roster and competing against the likes of Dak Prescott, Jacoby Brissett and Brandon Allen while working with the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff.

While one day of practice is not enough to determine who will come away with the most buzz, Alabama defensive lineman Jarran Reed is confident his Crimson Tide teammate will be able to separate himself from the pack because of intangibles.

Reed discussed Coker’s skillset during a media session on Tuesday and delivered a glowing review for the quarterback who helped lead Alabama to another national title.

“Jake is a winner, man. I love Jake. I love playing with him. You see him getting excited throwing a touchdown or running over to celebrate with you,” Reed said.

“It’s really great, because you don’t get to see that a lot from the quarterback position. That’s how I knew he was something special.”

Coker has shown that same energy early on in Mobile, so it will be interesting to see if he can continue to keep a positive attitude while progressing in the new system. If he can put together an impressive week while showing strong leadership and an infectious energy, Coker will leave the Senior Bowl watching his stock on the rise.
