In a move that is sure to please Michigan fans everywhere, former Michigan football player and UConn athletic director Warde Manuel will be taking the same position at his alma mater.
And if you pay attention to Twitter at all, you’ll see that Manuel already has one prominent Michigan fan in his corner, Desmond Howard. The ESPN college football commentator and former Wolverine football player tweeted his support for Manuel.
I haven't had a chance to speak directly with Warde yet, but I have a source who confirms Manuel is indeed going to be Michigan's next AD.

I've known Warde for almost 30 years as a teammate, friend and sports professional and I can't think of anyone more suited for this job.

I'm excited about the working relationship I know he'll have w/ Coach Harbaugh, the dedication he'll bring to football + ALL Michigan sports

Manuel played under Bo Schembechler at Michigan from 1986-89, and was AD at Buffalo in addition to UConn.
