Cal LB Michael Barton leaving for Arizona as a grad transfer

During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, Cal linebacker Michael Barton was an important piece of the Golden Bears’ defense. He combined for 13 total starts and was a PAC-12 Honorable Mention during the 2014 season.

Last year, he lost the starting job over the summer and did not start during the 2015 season. He also only played in 10 of their 13 games, which caused him to announce a transfer from the school.

On Sunday, he made his decision official and he will not be going too far out of the state of California. He will transfer to PAC-12 South opponent, Arizona as a grad transfer, making him eligible for the 2016 season, his final.

In three seasons with the Golden Bears, Barton recorded 158 tackles, 16.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one interception. He will surely be a big addition to the Wildcats’ defense, who lost All-American Scooby Wright to the NFL.
