TCU-Texas football game moved to Black Friday

The Big 12 has announced that the annual matchup between Texas and TCU will move from Thanksgiving Day to Black Friday this year.

The move comes at the request of not only the conference, but television partners FOX and ESPN. This will be the second straight year that the Horned Frogs have played on Black Friday. The team defeated Baylor 28-21 in double overtime last season.

The game will be played in Texas next season, where TCU has won both contests since joining Big 12 in 2012.

The move shows just how much power the television partners have over a conference. With the NFL controlling Thanksgiving Day, it just makes sense from a financial standpoint for the Big 12 and the schools involved. Putting the game on Black Friday will likely lead to a much larger TV audience, especially if both programs are successful next season.
