An affidavit from ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley states that troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel “restrained, beat and threatened to kill” her, according to NBC 5 Dallas.
The affidavit takes us back to the night of January 29, when Manziel’s most recent transgression took place. Miss Crowley stated that she went to dinner with friends before hitting several local nighttime hotspots before texting Manziel and other friends about an afterparty at Hotel ZaZa, where Manziel had a room.
“We planned to spend the night together in his room there,” Crowley said.
Crowley, Manziel and friends then “hung out” in Manziel’s room for some time before all but Crowley and Manziel left, and it all went downhill from there. Crowley and Manziel began arguing “about things I had heard earlier in the week about him being with a girl who had caused us problems in the past,” Crowley said.
It escalated as Manziel then threw Crowley onto the bed, she tried to leave and was then “restrained” from leaving before both left in Manziel’s car for Crowley’s Forth Worth apartment. Per the affidavit, Manziel threw Crowley into the car by her hair despite her cries for help to the parking valet, who simply said he didn’t know what to do. On the drive, Manziel threatened “I’ll kill us both” and also slapped Crowley hard enough that attorneys claim he ruptured her eardrum and she is unable to hear.
They got to Crowley’s apartment and she eventually grabbed a knife out of her kitchen block and advanced towards him, at which point he fled the scene and Crowley banged on the door of a neighboring apartment before notifying local authorities.
Crowley has since been granted a restraining order against Manziel, who must stay away from his ex-girlfriend for two years, but the evidence is really piling up for the NFL. Manziel is all but destined for a suspension under the domestic violence policy and with every passing day, it’s looking like his NFL career is all but over.
