Family awared $53 million from Kyle Field incident

The family of the worker who fell four stories to his death during an accident while renovating Texas A&M’s Kyle Field has been awarded $53 million.

The decision came down on Wednesday from a jury in Houston. The felt the damages awarded were appropriate for the negligence surrounding the safety and ultimate death of Angel Garcia.

Garcia passed away in December 2013 when a section of concrete collapsed onto the construction equipment he was operating.

Though the family — his mother and two children — were awarded $53 million, it doesn’t make up for the sad fact that their son and father is no longer around. You can’t put a price on a lost family member, and our thoughts are still with the family as they work towards getting closure from the tragedy.
