You didn’t think that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh went on all those weird recruiting trips on public transportation, did you?
Of course not! Harbaugh flies a private jet for recruiting as per his contract with Michigan, and each trip costs a pretty hefty penny. According to acquired documents, Harbaugh’s trips cost $10,000 per day to fly. Over a 12-day recruiting period, that equates to $120,000 just to go visit potential players.
Now that you’ve successfully picked your jaw up off the ground at the price, let’s hit you with something else. The total travel expenses for the 12-day trip came to nearly $136,000. That’s $16,000 in other expenses in addition to the flight.
Of course, the school can afford this type of luxury for coaches and recruitment what with not paying the players and all. But that’s for a debate on another day.
Let’s talk about this. What would you do with $120,000 of money instead of flying for 12 days on a private jet?
