Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes and his teammates take on Maryland this weekend, but Hayes isn’t a fan of the Under Armour ball that the Terps use. Hayes discussed that with Madison.com, but his argument wasn’t really about basketballs.
Rather, Hayes used the basketball discussion to very subtly and hilariously call out the NCAA over the matter.

Though some may not want to admit it, Hayes is right. College athletics is all about the universities and the association itself making money and turning a profit and in the case of these basketballs, Hayes is spot on. The NBA uses one universal ball, so why can’t college basketball be the same? Yes, universities have endorsement deals with various brands, but does that really need to stretch past the uniforms?
Either way, Hayes has made his opinion known and, hopefully, should not suffer any long-term ramifications for doing so. Tip-off between the Badgers and Terps is set for 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN tomorrow, so be sure to tune in!
