Rutgers G Corey Sanders suspended 2 weeks

Rutgers freshman guard Corey Sanders has been suspended for two weeks due to violating team rules, according to a tweet from Brian Hamilton of SI.com, and will miss the Scarlet Knights’ next four games.

A four-star freshman from the Tampa area, Sanders leads Rutgers with 16.2 points and 4.1 assists per game and is shooting 43 percent from the field. Sanders has also proven to be a strong on-ball defender to the tune of 1.7 steals per game. Rutgers has struggled to a 6-19 (0-12 Big Ten) record this season, but Sanders has been a breath of fresh air.

As a result of his suspension, Sanders will miss games against Illinois, Penn State, Minnesota and Northwestern. In his absence, look for sophomore Mike Williams to become the new go-to guy on offense.

Just what team rule he broke to get himself suspended is unknown, but stay tuned to Campus Sports for any further updates on Sanders’ story!
