LSU WR Kevin Spears becomes second at position to transfer

LSU redshirt sophomore wide receiver Kevin Spears has joined teammate Trey Quinn as the second Tigers wideout to announce today that they were transferring. Spears’ decision was announced on Twitter by Ross Dellenger of The Advocate.

#LSU confirms that WR Kevin Spears has also been given his release to transfer from the program.

A former three-star recruit out of New Orleans’ Holy Cross High School, Spears played just one year of high school football and did not record a single catch while with LSU, which makes some sense as he was viewed as a project player from the outset. On top of LSU, he received offers from Utah, San Diego State, Southern and Louisiana Tech.

Spears has the size at 6-foot-2, 207 pounds and clearly the talent. After all, he WAS recruited by a number of SEC schools. He has not given any indication as to where he may transfer, but he will need to sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA rules and regulations
