Ohio State recently took the lead in the battle of the odds for the 2016 College Football Playoff Final. The Buckeyes made a significant jump over previous leader Alabama and are now the favorites to win the title.
This unexpected leap for Ohio State surprised many, especially this early, even before spring practices have begun.
Why's Ohio State the new national title favorite? Because 3X more money has been bet on the Buckeyes than Alabama https://t.co/wrFk19gly0

Bleacher Report’s Ben Axelrod found the answer in that people have bet three-times more money that Ohio State will beat Alabama. This drastically swayed the odds, taking many by surprise. Ohio State went through a massive departure of talent due to the NFL draft, losing multiple impact players.
The 2016-17 team for the Buckeyes will be full of young and inexperienced players, making the odds of a 2016 College Football title in Columbus less likely than the odds would suggest.
There’s no doubt that the Buckeyes have proven themselves as National Championship material in years past, but only time will tell the 6-1 odds in favor of The Ohio State for 2016 will reflect well.
