The New England Patriots look to continue their dominance through the AFC they have the last decade into 2016. It looks like they will be doing so without one of their top linebackers.
On Tuesday, 8-year veteran linebacker Jerod Mayo announced his retirement from the NFL on Instagram. He thanked the Patriots, with whom he spent his entire career, for all they did for him.
He has been one of the best linebackers for the Patriots since he was drafted in the top ten in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He recorded 535 tackles and 11 sacks through his career with the team.
