There’s no doubt that Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is a hard-nosed individual. The man became known for building strong, hard-hitting defenses during his tenure as the head coach at Rutgers and is lauded as one of the best defensive minds in college football.
And now we may have the answer as to why.
Per a video posted to Twitter by Buckeyes co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Luke Fickell, Schiano was seen participating in a tug-o-war drill with freshman safety Malik Hooker.

It’s great that Schiano is participating in these exercises and an even greater sign for the Buckeyes’ defense next season. Ohio State is losing some key players to the upcoming NFL Draft and will be relying heavily on underclassmen in 2016. That said, strength is going to be the key to the defense succeeding next season.
With Schiano proving to be a fine motivator and getting his hands dirty right there with the players, count on Ohio State to make some noise in 2016!
