South Carolina dismisses two former defensive starters

The first casualties of the Will Muschamp era at South Carolina have occurred. According to 247 Sports, defensive back Al Harris and defensive end David Johnson have both been dismissed from the program for reasons that have yet to be specified.

“They are no longer part of the team,” Muschamp said. “We wish them the best.”

Harris, a former three-star recruit from Fort Lauderdale, leaves Columbia with 48 tackles and five breakups across 36 games.

Johnson is a former four-star talent from the Atlanta area who arrived on campus as a linebacker, but switched to defensive end. He has 36 tackles and 2.5 sacks to his credit.

Needless to say, just why the two were dismissed from the program is a mystery, especially since Muschamp is a defensive mind who definitely would have appreciated their talent.
