Former Alabama defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson is at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week and according to NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah, the best is yet to come from this young man.
In his latest piece, Jeremiah says that Robinson “has all of the tools to be a dominant three-down presence but he hasn’t put it all together yet,” and that “his best football is ahead of him.”
That certainly seems accurate regarding Robinson, a former four-star recruit from Fort Worth. In three years with the Crimson Tide, he managed 133 tackles and nine sacks.
And therein lies the concern over Robinson’s future abilities. He has tremendous size at 6-foot-4, 312 pounds, but only had one forced fumble in his college career. He also didn’t do much in the pass-rushing department, though that could just be because he’s better as a run-stuffer.
Either way, though Robinson’s ceiling is indeed high, he has to demonstrate in the months leading up to the NFL Draft that he can elevate his game into high gear and work outside of a role he has grown used to playing on the field.
