NFL Scouting Combine: Derrick Henry blows scouts away at weigh-in

There has been recent discussion about Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry potentially struggling to find his stride at the next level. Many believe the Heisman Trophy winner will be a second-round pick, but he is off to a good start at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine and could leave Indianapolis with his stock on the rise.

On Wednesday, Henry and the running backs had their official measurements taken.

When Henry stepped up for his turn, he measured at  6-foot-2.5 and 247 pounds. That is a half-inch short and nine pounds heavier than he was officially listed at Alabama.

But don’t let the weight concern you.

Unlike Eddie Lacy, Henry has a solid build. And if he is able to showcase his open field speed during on-field drills and the 40-yard dash, we could quickly see him shoot up draft boards and overtake Ezekiel Elliott as the top running back prospect available in this year’s class.
