Ozzie Newsome gives Derrick Henry interesting pro comparison

Baltimore Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome is at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week and when asked about Alabama running back Derrick Henry regarding a pro comparison, Newsome had an interesting answer.

Per Andy Fenelon of NFL.com, Newsome went way back and compared Henry to the late Chuck Muncie.

Now, for those unaware, Muncie was drafted third overall out of California by the New Orleans Saints in 1976 and, at 6-foot-3, 224 pounds, had hype very similar to Henry’s. Yes, Henry has 20 pounds on what Muncie weighed in his prime, but Muncie too had a reputation as a powerful bruiser of a running back, posting 3,052 rush yards across three years with the Golden Bears and averaging 5.6 yards a carry.

Similarly, Henry averaged six yards per carry in his career at Alabama and accomplished two things that Muncie never did at Cal: win the Heisman Trophy as well as a national championship.

Either way, Henry is one of the most intriguing names at the Combine this year, so stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates on his workout results!
