Nick Saban praises Alabama’s 2015 championship team

Alabama Nick Saban has won four national championships while coaching the Crimson Tide, but he looks at the 2015 squad with a particular fondness.

Speaking during halftime of Alabama’s men’s basketball game against Auburn yesterday, Saban praised the 2015 championship team as “one of the best teams I’ve been associated with.”

“This is truly one of the best teams that I have ever been associated with,” Saban said. “The respect for each other, guys taking care of each other, the togetherness we have on the team, the positive energy and attitudes that we had on this team, people being responsible to take care of business…”

Alabama also received its Iron Bowl trophy during halftime, but Saban’s words carry a lot of weight. Alabama’s 2015 team was incredibly strong, led on offense by Heisman Trophy winning running back Derrick Henry as well as senior quarterback Jacob Coker. The defense also had its fair share of stars, namely linebacker Reggie Ragland and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson.

Best of all, Alabama rallied together to knock off a then-undefeated No. 1 Clemson team in the national championship game, holding off rally after rally in a 45-40 win.

That said, given how Saban feels about the 2015 team, it’s going to be exciting to see what Alabama football has to offer in the future.
