Former Oklahoma star Blake Griffin praises G Buddy Hield

NBA star and former Oklahoma great Blake Griffin was in Norman yesterday to have his number retired and after the game, he was sure to praise Sooners star guard Buddy Hield, who had 23 points in Oklahoma’s 73-71 win over Baylor.

Griffin’s words were posted on Twitter by the official page of Sooners basketball.

Griffin has hit the nail right on the head, regarding Hield. The senior is second in the nation in scoring with 25.3 points per game and has shot 49 percent from the field and made nearly 48 percent of his threes. Though a bit over-reliant on his three-point shot, he has been the unquestioned leader of Oklahoma for the past two years and is a big reason why the Sooners will be a surefire national championship contender in the NCAA Tournament later this month.

Griffin also did his fair share to help Oklahoma in the big dance during his college days, getting the Sooners as far as the Elite Eight in 2009, so only time will tell if Hield can match or exceed that greatness.
