4-star RB Cam Akers de-commits from Alabama

Class of 2017 four-star running back Cam Akers announced on his Twitter that he has de-committed from the Alabama Crimson Tide, citing that he and his family thought it best that he “take a step back and re-evaluate things.”

Akers, who currently attends Clinton High School in the Jackson, Mississippi area, had been verbally committed to the Crimson Tide since August and now may be receiving a number of offers from top football programs looking to add him. Prior to committing to Alabama, Akers had offers from LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss and Georgia Tech, among many others.

Needless to say, Akers hit the nail right on the head. Making a decision like this at 16 years old is far from easy. In picking where to play college football he’s probably not only thinking about his future, but that of his family as he looks to choose the smoothest path to the NFL.
