Tennessee upset Vanderbilt after basket waved off

Tennessee upset Vanderbilt in the second round of the SEC Tournament after Commodores guard Wade Baldwin IV’s potentially game-tying layup at the buzzer was waved off by officials to give the Vols a 67-65 victory.

Video of the basket in question may be seen below. Check it out!

It’s definitely a tough call, but video does appear to show that the ball is not out of Baldwin’s hand as the clock expires. The officials did review it, but to no avail. Tennessee is now headed to the SEC Quarterfinal against LSU as the SEC Tournament continues at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

This is great news for Tennessee, who finished the regular season 13-18 (6-12 SEC) and closed the season having lost six of seven. Now, the Vols have won two straight tournament games and are now in a position to upset an LSU team that just lost shooter Keith Hornsby for the season.
