Kentucky beats Texas A&M in OT to win SEC Final

Kentucky fought off a feisty Texas A&M Aggies squad to sink some key baskets in overtime and win the SEC Tournament Final by a score of 82-77. Tyler Ulis led the Wildcats with a career best 30 points and Jamal Murray chipped in 17 while also hitting the game-icing three.

As a result, Kentucky was able to win its fourth ever SEC Championship under coach John Calipari and now has the momentum at its back to potentially make yet another deep NCAA Tournament run. Kentucky made headlines last year as it went undefeated into its Final Four matchup with Wisconsin, only to fall short to the Badgers despite being heavily favored to cap a perfect season with winning a national championship. As a result, the Wildcats could easily have a chip on their shoulder this coming week.

A lot will depend on where Kentucky is seeded but after this win, but keep in mind that the Wildcats have never finished outside the Elite Eight save for one year under Calipari. Thus, be sure to stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates on the Wildcats’ tournament journey!
