Stanford fires Johnny Dawkins

After eight seasons, Stanford has decided to part ways with head basketball coach, Johnny Dawkins. Dawkins joined the Cardinals back in 2008. Dawkins was a two-time All American from Duke, and played nine seasons in the NBA before being named the assistant coach under Mike Krzyzewski at his alma mater.

Since being named head coach at Stanford, the Cardinals have had many ups and downs. The Cardinals went to the College Basketball Invitational in Dawkins’ first season, then did not make the postseason for the next two years before going to the National Invitational Tournament in 2013.

Dawkins saved himself from questioning when he took them to the Sweet 16 back in 2014, but they then eventually returned to the NIT the following season.Dawkins ends his career with the Cardinal 141-100 overall and 66-78 in the Pac-12. They finished 15-15 this season.

Stanford has not made a formal announcement about the dismissal of their basketball coach yet.
