Pacific to hire Damon Stoudamire as head coach

It looks like the Pacific Tigers have found their new head basketball coach.

According to Andy Glockner, the school is set to hire 14-year NBA veteran Damon Stoudamire as the program’s next head coach.

Stoudamire spent time with Toronto, Portland, Memphis and San Antonio during his NBA career, but is most known for being a standout at Arizona in the early 1990s. He has been an assistant coach in the NBA with Memphis and at his alma mater, giving him the experience that Pacific feels will help get the team back into contention in the West Coast Conference.

That being said, after an 8-20 season that included a conference record of 2-11, Stoudamire is certain to have his work cut out for him. The Tigers haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2013, and have made it just twice of the last 10 years.
