Ben Simmons wins Integris Wayman Tisdale Award

The honors continue to pile up for LSU’s Ben Simmons.

The likely first-overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft has been selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association as the recipient of the Integris Wayman Tisdale Award.

The award is given out to college basketball’s freshman of the year. He was also selected to the Freshman All-America Team by the USBWA.

The 6-foot-10 forward from Melbourne, Australia led all freshmen in rebounds during the 2015-16 season, averaging nearly 12 rebounds per game. He also finished third among all freshmen in scoring with 19.8 points per game, and had 22 double-doubles during the year.

Simmons will be presented the award on April 11 at the College Basketball Awards gala in Oklahoma City.
