Sony Comments on PlayStation 4 Cross Play

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that cross-platform play was coming to its Xbox One console, allowing players to enjoy games with PlayStation 4 and PC users.

With the excitement surrounding the announcement, Gamespot reached out to Sony to ask about cross-platform play coming to the PlayStation 4 that would allow users to play with Xbox One users.

“PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002,” the statement to Gamespot said. “We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play.”

The company didn’t mention the Xbox One by name, but that’s to be expected because it’s rare that one company acknowledges the competition. The PS4 already features cross-platform play with PC users in Rocket League, a feature that is coming to the Xbox One in the near future.

Campus Sports has reached out for more clarification on the potential of playing with users on other devices. Should they respond, this post will be updated with what the company has to say.
