Roy Williams ‘despises’ late tip-off time vs. Providence

Roy Williams and the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels can look forward to a second-round match with No. 9 Providence tomorrow, but the Hall of Fame coach isn’t too happy about it. No, Williams isn’t bummed about playing Providence, but multiple sources reported on Twitter that Williams “despises” the fact that UNC’s tip-off with the Friars isn’t until 9:45 p.m.

Roy going in on the 945 tiptime. 'I despise it.'

RoyW on the 9:40pm tip time: "I despise it. I'll sit in the hotel and not get to go to work until 9:30 at night."

Roy Williams is roasting the NCAA over UNC's 9:45 start time on Saturday. I have to agree. East Coast game shouldn't start that late.

Granted, the game time isn’t exactly ideal, and Williams has his reasons for being unhappy. For most of the day, he and his players will be sitting ducks and just playing the waiting game until it’s their turn to step on the court of Raleigh’s PNC Arena.

And there we have why Williams shouldn’t be overly salty about the tip-off time. The game is in Raleigh, just a stone’s throw away from the Tar Heels’ home base in Chapel Hill. For all intents and purposes, this is going to be a home game.

Moreover, nobody wants to see that game early in the day anyway.
