Photos: Temple took the subway to Barclays Center today

The No. 10 Temple Owls face off against the No. 7 Iowa Hawkeyes at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center later this afternoon, but did not take a team bus to the arena. Rather, in pictures posted to Temple basketball’s official Twitter, coach Fran Dunphy, his staff and the players opted to ride the subway.

That’s quite the interesting decision from Coach Dunphy. As a native New Yorker, I can attest to how crowded and stressful the subway can be. Unless you take it not during rush hour, or really late at night, it’s near-impossible to get a seat and relax en route to your destination.

Given how a chartered bus would have given the Owls time to sit back, relax and get focused ahead of this afternoon’s game, it’s going to be interesting to see how taking the economic route to the game will affect their on-court performance, if at all.

Tip-off is slated for 3:10 p.m. ET on TruTV, so be sure to tune in!
