Kevin Durant wants to be courted like LeBron James

It’s well known that Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant is set to become a free agent after the 2015-16 season.

The Olympic Gold Medalist and NBA MVP is certain to be sought out by a number of teams looking to get into the championship picture. And though a return to the Thunder still appears likely, Durant is reportedly looking forward to the free agency process this summer.

From Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Mannix: “Durant is looking forward to being recruited, to being courted, to being treated like the biggest free-agent prize since LeBron James six years ago. The chances of Durant sending a simple tweet again announcing his return are virtually nonexistent, but the Thunder remain hopeful that his decision, regardless of how this season ends, is the same.”

The tweet Mannix is referring to can be found below.

It’s unlikely that Durant holds a TV special to announce his decision, but it’s certain to be more of a big deal than the last time around. Durant won’t have to worry about not being offered a max contract by any team, that’s a given. What teams will have to do is prove to him that they are ready to win a championship with Durant in the fold.

Whether it’s Oklahoma City, Golden State or even San Antonio remains to be seen. But no matter what happens, July 1 will be the start of a fun week in the NBA.
