No. 11 Northern Iowa beat No. 6 Texas on a crazy buzzer-beater last night thanks to Paul Jesperson’s prayer shot from beyond halfcourt and while the Panthers’ celebration was fantastic in and of itself, the radio call by longtime play-by-play man Gary Rima was even greater.
Give it a listen below:

And, of course, here is video of Jesperson’s shot to go with Rima’s call.

Down goes Texas indeed, ladies and gentlemen. Seriously, UNI has turned game-winning buzzer beaters into an art this season, having already won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Final against Evansville on Wes Washpun’s game-winning jumper. Suddenly, on top of Middle Tennessee State, Arkansas-Little Rock and Stephen F. Austin, Northern Iowa joins a potential Cinderella pool that has taken the 2016 NCAA Tournament by storm already, and it’s not even the Sweet Sixteen yet.
Speaking of the Sweet Sixteen, UNI takes on No. 3 Texas A&M for a spot in it tomorrow night. Tip-off is slated for 7:40 p.m. on TruTV, so be sure to tune in.
