UFC 197 referee, judges announced for championship double-header

UFC 197 is set to take place April 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In the headlining bout, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier defends his title against former champ Jon Jones, while flyweight title holder Demetrious Johnson defends his belt against undefeated challenger and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo.

On Wednesday, the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) met to determine the judges and referees for the UFC’s championship double-header.

Referee Herb Dean get the call for the Cormier vs. Jones rematch, while judges Sal D’Amato, Junichiro Kamijo and Chris Lee will be in charge of determining the score if it goes the distance.

For the co-main event, “Big” John McCarthy will be the third man in the cage.

If Johnson vs. Cejudo goes all five rounds, judges Derek Cleary, Jeff Mullen and Glenn Trowbridge will be in charge of making the call.
