March Madness 2016: Is Maryland the real deal?

One team that everyone has been talking about the past couple of seasons has been Maryland, who went from being an afterthought in the ACC to a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten. The Terps have gone 55-15 (26-10 Big Ten) in two seasons in the Big Ten and have become known for playing strong and physical defense while also having a knack to hit clutch shots.

Except, Maryland was also streaky at some points this season and often went from being a surefire favorite to win the Big Ten outright to one that needed to get it together, and fast. As a result, the Terps only drew a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament this year.

But Maryland has since turned up, beating both South Dakota State and Hawaii to earn a date with No. 1 Kansas in the Sweet Sixteen today. Sure, Maryland is a huge underdog, but miracles have happened in the NCAA Tournament before.

Let’s dig a little deeper and find out just what makes the Terps tick.
