Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy says Longhorn Network could doom Big 12

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby recently warned that if the conference didn’t make changes, its revenues would pale in comparison to those of Big Ten and SEC counterparts.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy went a step further saying that one of the conference’s biggest draws could leave the conference entirely. Gundy suggested that the Texas Longhorns could leave the Big 12 for the Pac-12 or even the SEC.

“If Texas doesn’t [fold LHN] in X number of years, they’re going to be in the Pac-12 or SEC,” Gundy said, via CBS Sports. “If that’s what they want, keep riding this horse. If you don’t want that, you better make some changes or it’s going to happen whether you like it or not.”
The Longhorn Network has been a major thorn in Big 12’s side, as it stands as a major obstacle in the conference setting up its own conference wide TV network. Gundy went on to call the LHN a failure, which is half true as ESPN has lost quite a bit of money off it. However, Texas has not really lost anything, and therefore have no real incentive to shut it down.
