Marques Gayot ‘officially transferring from’ Miami

Linebacker Marques Gayot is “officially transferring from” Miami, according to a post on his Facebook page.

Officially transfering from UM ,I am opening back up my recruiting!

Posted by Marques Gayot on Thursday, March 24, 2016

Gayot, a former three-star recruit from the Palm Beach area, managed just eight tackles and 1.5 sacks in two seasons of limited action in Coral Gables. Last year was something of a fluke, as he suffered a frightening neck injury during practice early in the season and had to be airlifted to a hospital. The good news is that Gayot is expected to recover fully from said injury and it should have no bearing on his transfer market.

Of course, since he is not a graduate transfer, Gayot will have to sit out the 2016 season to satisfy NCAA bylaws and will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2017.
