Dayton mercilessly subtweets Ohio State over transfers

Ohio State’s men’s basketball team is going through a tough time, what with so many players transferring, and the Atlantic 10’s Dayton Flyers are having a field day on Twitter. In an epic subtweet, as in when one party tweets at or about another without directly mentioning them, Dayton took quite the shot at Ohio State.

This subtweet comes on the heels of three Buckeyes freshmen, Mickey Mitchell, A.J. Harris and Daniel Giddens, opting to transfer out of Columbus. Austin Grandstaff also opted to transfer back in December. Needless to say, Thad Matta is going to need to get creative when it comes to putting a winning team together in 2016-17.

And Dayton will certainly pursue some of those transfers, as the tweet is absolutely right regarding how well transfers do under Flyers coach Archie Miller. Charles Cooke came over from James Madison. Kevin Dillard was at Southern Illinois first. Jordan Sibert, in the definition of perfect irony, went to Ohio State.

The long and short of it is that Dayton might as well be called Transfer City and Archie Miller the Transfer Whisperer, but only time will tell if the program reaps the benefits of an exodus out of Columbus.
