Alabama hands out $2.2 million in total bonuses

The University of Alabama is reaping the financial benefits of a successful 2015 season, and how. Per a report from TideSports, the university will hand out $2.2 million in bonuses earned from winning the SEC Championship and, subsequently, the national championship.

The money will be spread out among a total of 60 employees, with the biggest bonus obviously going to Nick Saban. The Hall of Fame coach earned $125,000 for winning the SEC and another $400,000 for the national title, simple pocket change for someone who makes over $7 million a year.

Other coaches also earned hefty bonuses, with offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin getting close to $150,000 and defensive coordinator-turned-Georgia head coach Kirby Smart getting $310,000. Even Mark Perschel, the Tide’s “assistant director of video services” took home a check that was worth over $3,000.

Obviously, due to NCAA rules that need changing, none of the key players from Alabama’s championship run earned a dime.

Still, it’s just a testament to how much money there is in college football, and not just from what the university doles out. The numbers don’t lie, ladies and gentlemen. The SEC is a powerhouse in every sense of the word.
